Filipino boxing legend Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao has officially been enshrined in the International Boxing Hall of Fame, headlining the prestigious Class of 2025 on Sunday (Monday in Manila) at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, Pacquiao was inducted in his first year of eligibility, mainly due to an unparalleled career that saw him capture world titles in an unprecedented eight weight divisions.
His 26-year professional journey, which began in 1995, concluded with a remarkable record of 62 wins, 8 losses, and 2 draws, including 39 knockouts.
During his emotional acceptance speech, Pacquiao reflected on his humble beginnings in the Philippines, emphasizing how boxing provided him with a path out of poverty and a platform to uplift his family and countrymen.
“Every fight, every victory was a step further from poverty. It was not just for me but for my family, for the Filipino people,” he stated, his voice occasionally cracking with emotion. The induction ceremony also honored other boxing luminaries, including Vinny Paz and Michael Nunn in the men’s modern category, along with a distinguished class of women boxers, referees, cutmen, and broadcasters.
